The industrial ionizing radiation applications may be classified under two more general categories:

• industrial radiography, being part of the broader group of non-destructive inspections, exclusively used by certified users for reassuring the good quality of materials under testing. It is broadly applied to the construction of gas or water transfer networks, aeronautics, fuel industry, mining or even archeology,
• industrial applications for the measurement of qualitative parameters in production, such as the level measurement of fuel or lignite tanks, in thickness measurements of paper or fabric, measurement of truck surface liquidity, etc.
