After the successful completion of the Education and Training Appraisal (EduTA) mission to the Greek Atomic Energy Commission (EEAE) in 2008, EEAE was recognized as the IAEA’s Regional Training Center in Europe for Radiation, Transport and Waste Safety. A Long Term Agreement between the Government of the Hellenic Republic and the IAEA, to support EEAE as a Regional Training Centre in Europe for Radiation, Transport and Waste Safety was signed on July 11, 2011. This agreement is now on the procedure of its ratification by the parliament of the Hellenic Republic.
The EEAE, being the IAEA’s Regional Training Center for the European region in the English language, announces the operation of the Post Graduate Educational Course on “Radiation Protection and Safety of Radiation Sources” from 10 October 2011 to 30 March 2012. The course is co-organized by the EEAE and the IAEA, and is supported by the National Research Center “Demokritos”, the University of Athens, the National Technical University of Athens and the University of Ioannina. The course will be attended by 14 participants coming from 12 European countries. This is the fourth time that the PGEC is hosted in Greece. Since 2003 the course ran successfully by EEAE three times (2003, 2005-2006, 2007-2008).
