Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is a diagnostic imaging examination which is based on the phenomenon of magnetic resonance. Unlike the computed tomography scans, MRI scans do not involve the use of ionizing radiation, but the use of magnetic fields (non-ionizing radiation).

Licensing of MRI systems is mandatory in Greece since the end of 2015. The licensing process is described in the Ministerial Decision P/112/36/13.11.2015 (Government Gazette 2488/Β/18.11.2015).
