Renewal of special operating licences for MRI scan centres
The following are required for the renewal by the EEAE of the special operating licence for magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) laboratories:
- Application to the EEAE, at least three (3) months before the expiry of the current special operating licence.
- Supporting documents for the scientific officer (licence to practise, specialism & registration with the Medical Association), if there has been a change since the previous licence.
- Supporting documents for the radiation protection officer (licence to practise outside the field of ionising radiation), if there has been a change from the previous licence.
- List of staff names, academic qualifications, training certificates and assignment of practical aspects of exposure.
- Updated report on radiation protection against non-ionising radiation (for staff, patients and premises) and the safe operation of the facility, drawn up by the radiation protection officer; the content of which is similar to that of the report submitted for the granting of a licence. It also includes summary results of quality control checks on the most fundamental operational parameters and checks on protection against non-ionising radiation from previous years (e.g. in the form of timelines).
- A list of the laboratory’s equipment, accompanied by a certificate from the equipment manufacturers regarding the service life of systems and spare parts, and
- Equipment CE marking certificate, where there has been a change to the systems compared with the previous licence.
The EEAE, following assessment of the above supporting documents, and provided that it is established that all conditions regarding safe operation and protection against non-ionising radiation are met, shall issue the certificate of suitability and subsequently the special operating licence. If the EEAE considers that the supporting documents and information provided are insufficient, it may request additional information or amendments to the details in the supporting documents submitted, which will support and supplement the information provided.
Supporting documents must be submitted by email to the following addresses: adeies@eeae.gr. The documents submitted must be digitally signed.
